Peer Review Process
Welas Asih Journal of Community Service (JWA)
JWA follows a rigorous peer review process to ensure that only high-quality, scientifically sound research is published. This process is designed to uphold the journal's integrity and credibility.
1. Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts via the JWA online submission system. Upon submission, the editorial team conducts an initial check for compliance with journal guidelines and scope.
2. Initial Evaluation
The editorial team evaluates the manuscript for relevance to the journal's focus, adherence to formatting guidelines, and overall content quality. If it meets the required standards, it proceeds to peer review; otherwise, it may be rejected at this stage.
3. Peer Reviewer Assignment
Qualified reviewers (at least two) are assigned based on their expertise in the subject area. Reviewers are independent professionals or researchers with significant experience in the field.
4. Review Process
Reviewers assess the manuscript based on the following criteria:
-
Originality: Does the manuscript provide novel insights or data?
-
Scientific Rigor: Are the methods appropriate and well-executed? Are results supported by data?
-
Relevance: Is the topic timely and important to community health?
-
Clarity and Readability: Is the manuscript well-written and logically organized? Are conclusions supported?
-
Ethical Considerations: Are ethical standards followed, especially for studies involving human or animal subjects?
Reviewers submit detailed feedback and recommend one of the following: minor revision, major revision, or rejection.
5. Reviewer Feedback
Feedback and recommendations are submitted to the editorial team, then compiled and shared with the corresponding author.
6. Author Revision
Authors are required to revise the manuscript based on reviewer comments and submit a detailed response to each point. Major revisions may require re-review by the original reviewers.
7. Final Decision
After revisions, the editorial team evaluates the updated manuscript and author responses. The editor then issues a final decision:
-
Accepted without revision
-
Accepted with minor revisions
-
Accepted with major revisions
-
Rejected
8. Publication
Upon acceptance, the manuscript undergoes final proofreading and formatting, then is scheduled for publication in a future JWA issue.
9. Confidentiality and Ethics
Confidentiality is strictly maintained throughout the process. Reviewers must treat all materials as confidential and disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect their impartiality.
JWA is committed to transparency, fairness, and integrity in the peer review process to ensure the publication of impactful and high-quality research.
